A tail of two days

In this, the first meeting of the Formula Renault UK Championship Michael had pretty much the definition of a mixed weekend. Saturday saw drama in Qualifying thanks to a miss fire leaving his CRS car some 25 mph off, in the speed traps.

The first race was wet and showed some good potential for Michael who quickly made his way though the pack moving from 20th to 11th on the first lap!!! As the race continued so did Mick's progress until he made a small mistake misjudging the effects of the dirty air from the car in front. This caused an off at Church which left the car too damaged to continue. Michael had this to say afterwards, "It was looking like a good race for me, my pace was good. I was actually quickest in one of the speed traps so I defiantly had potential to keep moving forward. However, it was so difficult out there in the spray and when I made a small mistake at Church and that was it. I just need to put today behind me now and focus on making tomorrow count!"

Sunday, however was a different story, the sun shone bright in the Hampshire sky. Once again Michael had alot on his plate with a lowly starting position of 17th. All that changed once the lights went out, Michael made quick work of making his way though the field picking them off one by one, lap by lap and once he settled into a rhythm his pace was strong and he proved to be one of the quickest cars on circuit in the closing laps. This led to him climbing all the way up to 8th place on the last lap after pass karting graduate Alex Lynn. After the race Michael had this to say, " Its amazing the difference 24 hours can make. I'm really happy with my performance today, I kept my head down and just pushed past anything in my path and never looked back. I really want to take this chance to thank my mechanic, Tom, for putting in the hours last night to get me back out here today, as well as to my engineer, Mark, who gave me a great car and also to as my sponsors, Thanks guys."

Michael's next appearance will be at Rockingham for rounds 3 & 4 on the 24th and 25th of April
